hangover 2 Will there be a Thai Dating Hangover from “Hangover 2”?“Hangover 2” was just released in movie theatres. The much talked about sequel was filmed in Thailand, featuring a story line in Thailand. Thus, it seemed like a must see movie for all those men and women interested in the subject of Thai Dating. Talking about the movie could be an easy  conversation starter for Western men hoping to connect with Thai Girls or Thai LadyBoys through online Thai Dating sites.

If you did not yet see “Hangover 2” and are looking to do so, you can relax and read on. This online dating blog article won’t tell you the entire plot of the movie. Instead, it will cover just a few examples in the story line and will look more at the effect the film might have on Thai Dating.

The big question is:

Will Thai Dating suffer a hangover from the movie, “Hangover 2”?

One knew “Hangover 2” would earn its “R” film rating from the very beginning. All you had to hear was the opening song, “It’s a Bad Man’s World.” “Phil (played by Bradley Cooper) wants badly to experience a night in Bangkok. And he gets his wish.

The film gives people some interesting scene setting glimpses of crowded Bangkok city streets with elephants, go go girls, and the legendary Soi Cowboy. But man, did Thailand ever look like a truly beautiful place in the aerial shots of mountains and beaches. It is accurately called “Paradise” in the film. This should be good for Thai Dating and Thailand Tourism.

In “Hangover 2,” the dentist, Dr. Stu Price (played by Ed Helms), who entered into a quickie Las Vegas wedding with a stripper in the first Hangover movie is now about to get married to a gorgeous Thai Woman. Lauren is simply radiant, a beautiful, elegant, kind, and supportive Thai Bride to be. Played by actress Jamie Chung, Lauren plays the role of the classic Thai Girls in such demand with men around the world in Thai Dating. In fact, the main characters in the movie agree, and label Lauren as a “Thai Angel.”

But the pending Thai marriage has conflict. The Father of the Thai Bride doesn’t like his daughter’s soon to be husband. This story angle seemingly isn’t a boost for Thai Dating, especially since the custom of the traditional Thai Dowry is already out there as a bit of a controversy with some men.

The troubles of “Hangover 2” can all be hung again on Alan, the eccentric, bearded butterball played by Zach Galifianakis. He is responsible for getting the guys into trouble again. This time, the 16 year old younger brother of the Thai Bride is along for the ride. This time the guys bounce their way around Bangkok.

Alan is loaded with tidbits about Thailand since he was obsessed over hoping to be invited to Stu’s Thai wedding. Thailand and Thai Dating should avoid a hangover in a few scenes which clearly are blown out of proportion. For example, the unusually hostile Buddhist Monks at a Thai monastery, and last but not least, the scenes featuring the drug dealing, cigarette smoking monkey.

As one might suspect, the movie also contains scenes based on stereotypes about Bangkok. There is one with the machine gun toting night club owner who implies he is actively engaged in child sex trafficking. There is also the expected yet exaggerated storyline detailing Stu and his sexual encounter with a Thai LadyBoy.

Despite all of these things, it appears Thai Dating should not suffer a hangover based on how Thailand is portrayed in “Hangover 2.” If anything, the film’s popularity might cause a spike in Thai Dating and tourism for Thailand.

As was the case with the first Hangover film, don’t leave the movie theatre early with “Hangover 2.” The photos of the guys “Night in Bangkok” which no one can remember are revealed. And they are shocking but not pretty.

The “Hangover 2” script frequently refers to Bangkok’s ability as a city to simply “take” the main characters and the one they are desperately searching for through much of the film. The classic line is “If you haven’t found him, Bangkok has him.”

Bangkok is known to be able to get into a person’s heart, soul, and mind quickly and powerfully. So can everything about beautiful Thailand, “The Land of Smiles.” Most importantly when it comes to Thai Dating, the same can be said for Thai Women and Thai LadyBoys.
